We can believe that when someone dies they are just gone and still remember them, "keep them alive" in our memories, live well to honour their memory, etc.; all of that is possible without an actual connection with the dead, and so I was suggesting this as a way of checking whether our duty to the dead is being fulfilled. Partly in response to some of the other comments.

I hope that's clearer.Joehttps://m0k.ca/writing/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-78182574631539692312021-03-04T20:42:13.423+00:002021-03-04T20:42:13.423+00:00@J - ?@J - ?Bruce Charltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09615189090601688535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-14254094201979845402021-03-04T19:45:00.961+00:002021-03-04T19:45:00.961+00:00If it's the same thing an atheist would do (re...If it's the same thing an atheist would do (remembering, living well to honour them, etc.), then I think it's not enough. If it's compatible with believing that they're gone from this world, no longer a real being, no longer any true connection, then it's not enough.Joehttps://m0k.ca/writing/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-16608585800174379422021-02-26T06:34:46.635+00:002021-02-26T06:34:46.635+00:00Can you direct me to the interview that you are re...Can you direct me to the interview that you are referring to please? Thank you. I've recently become aware of Steiner. As a Christian, I have wondered if digging into his work is beneficial or will just be confusing. I've decided to proceed with an open mind and a guarded heart. That's how I happened upon your blog :)Sheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09530600369995136748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-32614711696953131372021-02-25T18:12:03.515+00:002021-02-25T18:12:03.515+00:00@TYM - Yes, that's the first step. *Then* doin...@TYM - Yes, that's the first step. *Then* doing something about it!Bruce Charltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09615189090601688535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-19379788230891333312021-02-25T18:01:43.261+00:002021-02-25T18:01:43.261+00:00So remembering, that the dead are still a part of ...So remembering, that the dead are still a part of the living, ongoing divine creation?TonguelessYoungManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12433490543280815258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-19822268836473070182021-02-25T16:45:10.510+00:002021-02-25T16:45:10.510+00:00@M - Yes, remembering; but I mean a great deal mor...@M - Yes, remembering; but I mean a great deal more than that.
