Just as in the 2020 Birdemic - when utterly wild and deeply ignorant claims of lethal-danger emanating from serial manipulators and liars; were taken seriously, made into policies, and enforced upon the world; we are now seeing the same with "predictions" about "AI": and the endemicpandemic that is "AI"-dolatry.
There is an environment in which people can claim... anything about "AI" - its abilities and potentials -and be taken with equal seriousness by those who think all this SciFi invention is a Great Thing and desire to Bring It On ASAP; and also those who respond with a chronic panic attack, futile gestures, and personal despair.
Just as with the Birdemic; people cannot grasp that the major crises, policies, and programs of the modern West are purely manipulative - and may be based upon almost-nothing factual.
Little or nothing substantive, but a truly immense amount of re-labelling, hype, spin, invention, and inverted reportage.
Whatever facts there were behind the Birdemic - if anything - they were trivial and insignificant compared with the truly colossal consequences of the coordinated totalitarian global response.
Likewise, whatever computational breakthrough - if any - was behind the late-November 2022 global propaganda avalanche concerning the claimed qualitative and positively socially transformative breakthroughs of "AI" was and is trivial and insignificant compared with the truly colossal expenditure, impositions and implementation by the global totalitarian System.
With "AI", as with the Birdemic, the unconstrained and universal claims over all domains of human life and functioning; sit upon little or nothing substantive, but a truly immense amount of re-labelling, hype, spin, invention, and inverted reportage.
"AI"-dolatry equals the Birdemic; for the clear and obvious reason that both emanate from the same sources, use exactly analogous methods of social and psychological manipulation, and both share the same strategically-evil aims.
Both are operate as tests of our spiritual discernment because the success of both depend on dishonesties and errors at the very roots of our metaphysical assumptions.
The mass vulnerability of Christians and mainstream people alike to both the Birdemic and "AI" PSYOPS; is evidence of deep wrongness in our understanding of reality, and the purpose of our mortal lives.
To put it bluntly; insofar as we do not immediately see through these and like deceptions and instantly discern their grossly evil motivations - to that extent our basic life stance is defective; and needs to be examined and revised on pain of self-chosen damnation.
Is that clear enough?

Note added: To further the analogy; consider the way that during the Birdemic, the scale of health problems was incrementally amplified, month by month, and some orders of magnitude; through unprecedented and immeasurable global expenditures on pseudo-medical technologies and harmful societal transformations - topped by systematic misrepresentation and lies in the controlled-media... All of which was attributed to the progression of the Birdemic entity. We are seeing almost exactly the same phenomenon with the media reportage of the progress of "AI": unprecedented and immeasurable global expenditures on technologies and harmful societal transformations, with alleged (systematic misrepresentation and lies) orders of magnitude incremental improvement, reported month by month in the controlled-media - all of which are attributed to progress of the "AI" entity.

That is one of the main issues. It is asserted (for no real reason) that both of these agendas should have control over everything else. Which is just plain totalitarianism.
Yes, ignore the man (computer) behind the curtain......Seems AI is the new all powerful Wizard of Oz. Established human tendency from throwing virgins into volcanos, burning wiches, to raindances. AI is augury at a monumental scale...
@NLR - The later PSYOPS piece represents my belief that with the "AI" project, we are not dealing with the kind of thing that can be addressed by evidence or rational argument.
@RJC - I take your general point, but I believe that augury (specifically, from your list) actually worked well for the Greeks and early Romans; and only began to become inaccurate in the later Roman era - a fact that was noticed at the time.

Veering off-topic but my impression from reading classical Roman literature is that the Roman people were very 'grounded', respecting their ancestors and local spirits, up to the end of republican times. That would be an essential ingredient in their remarkable achievements in engineering and statecraft.
AI-dolatry is also a continuation of the PSYOPS of green transition, where we have spent an immense amount of resources to produce the same amount or less electricity and heat from wind turbines and solar cells that we were able to produce by burning coal in power plants that have now been scrapped.
Now we have this massive investment in producing peer-reviewed plagiarism at best. As if more content would be progress at this point.
@MF - It is a difference between the major technological transitions of the past and the two example you gave, that Green stuff and AI will be both worse and less efficient.
It is clear that the proximate reason behind Green stuff and AI is the money to be made at the top by skimming off (more like trawling) from the unimaginably large subsidies required in order that such environmentally and economically destructive transformations happened at all.
The ultimate reason is social and spiritual destruction.
I was recently on the factory floor of a big new company. I thought they were in refrigeration, but I was told by a foreman that they actually built liquid coolant systems that were to be used in AI server farms. About 500 workers on the floor, very multiethnic, all of them younger than 40. This in a relatively small city, and I doubt it's the only one.

If bureaucracy is like a cancer, then "AI" is like a virus. For instance, although the machine can only mimic computer code written by humans, there is an attempt to change the job of a computer programmer into fixing machine-generated code. And then claim it is all the machine's doing.
Jobs are being hijacked to serve the "AI" system even though it cannot initiate any of the jobs in the same way that a virus makes a cell produce more copies of the virus, though the virus cannot reproduce on its own.
Both bureaucracy and "AI" are parasitic redirectings of normal social functioning.

This is an aspect that people are failing to grasp about the post-2022 "AI" program: the phenomenon (like some other recent examples) are a consequence of massive, coordinated, top-down, multi-national re-direction of economic resources.
"AI" works in the same way, is the same economic model, as "Green" tech growth under the Climate regime, or Big Pharma profits during the Birdemic-Peck.
By such strategies; the Western economy has been, is being, parasitized, drained and redirected; top-down - with the intention of international mass social engineering.
"AI" is not about increasing economic capability and efficiency; but *at the expense of* economic capability and efficiency.
