Even when I was not Christian, I regarded my period living in college at Durham Castle (as a junior don) as a better life than living alone in a flat or house. But I don't see why young Christians at a church don't organize this for themselves, and ask their Pastor to preside in some fashion. Perhaps what is lacking is an already-existing authority structure and explicit commitment of a monastic type - but it does look rather like a failing of our era that such things cannot be devised. It is what I had thought of as well, but maybe I just read your post and forgot the origin. I also think it important that the church find ways of incorporating single persons in to family structures (that is perhaps as an adopted uncle or aunt), as far as possible.Donaldnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-90971999404991042832013-08-13T05:56:42.204+01:002013-08-13T05:56:42.204+01:00@D - In general, the problem applies to all unmarr...@D - In general, the problem applies to all unmarried people who accept that they should be celibate. There is such up front reward to reject church teaching on sex only with in marriage by either apostatizing or trying to re-write church teaching or live a seemingly lonely life constantly on edge fighting against their temptation.
