WB seems an interesting chap, albeit I dont regard him as as a real poet (I dont know of any real, living, good poets in English - and I cant evaluate other languages). He seems to want something different than me, but it does overlap to an extent.Bruce Charltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09615189090601688535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-18676598740426589312021-09-21T13:47:41.116+01:002021-09-21T13:47:41.116+01:00Dr. Charlton, are you familiar with the American p...Dr. Charlton, are you familiar with the American poet Wendell Berry?

His poem "Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front" resonates with the same theme:

"So, friends, every day do something
that won’t compute. Of c...@William - Excellent comparison - exactly so. Of course 'placing ourselves in the hands of God' is much easier said than done; and in the past it seemed to suffice for most people to obey the guidance of the church. But as things are now, with pervasive (and insidious) value inversion - almost any external guidance, or acting spontaneously from surface impulses and 'reason', seems most likely to lead towards Satan. I don't think we can do better than try to follow our deepest intuition; and when we err (as we are bound to) to be aware of the corrective intuitive and revelatory indications that we have indeed erred - and be ready to repent, and learn from the experience. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you."

I interpret this to mean that if we put ourselves in the hands of God he will inspire us with what to say and do through our intuition. We don't need to have plans just hold ourselves in readiness. It's rather like the saying that those who live by the sword die by the sword. If you engage the materialistic world on its own level and with its own weapons o thought, analysis, debate, argument, you will fail. But if you turn yourself over to God or Christ (it's the same thing) you will be given what's necessary. "The Lord said to his disciples, "Beware of men who will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. This will be a time for you to bear testimony. Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and some of you they will put to death; you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives."Geniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15626600472468754253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4683970826895755480.post-5078887710536624952021-09-21T10:35:10.326+01:002021-09-21T10:35:10.326+01:00@Frank - ...And I mean this at quite an extreme le...@Frank - ...And I mean this at quite an extreme level.

Not merely that we think of an intuitive plan and follow that! But that (ideally) this become a day by day (or even moment by moment) thing - if we can learn to distinguish genuine intuition from mere instinct and expediency.

"They" are trying to manipulate our instincts and socially-shape expediency for Their ends. Therefore, I suppose that *fake* intuitions will *usually* fit-in with Their agenda - and real ones won't.

However, genuine intuition (of divine origin) does not work by any predictable formula - and *They* will also try to manipulate those who are merely negativistic and oppositional - by pretending to want them to do the opposite of what they really want (as parents sometimes do with naughty children).

There really is no substitute for the real-thing of intuition. Yes, I believe this to be true. Our challenge is to discover ways to fight and resist the System outwith the System, using non-System motivations and means. As you put it, people must become unpredictable in their resistance.

Using the System to confront the System is not only predictable, but from the Establishment's perspective, very desirable because it limits the resistance to predetermined, spiritually harmful terms and conditions, all of which the Establishment firmly control via the System.
