Does it matter? If he was not an admirer of all things womanly, so what? If he despised women, so what? If he revered them, so what? Maybe it's more illuminating to wonder why anyone would put C.S.Lewis on a pedestal, or anybody else, for that matter. Tolkien comes to mind.
Any human may have varied traits. Good and bad, and everything in-between. That's humans for you.
