You pretty much got it between you - the idea is that we now live in an era of Patagonian Shakespeare's AT BEST - i.e. local geniuses only, because the world historical geniuses are pretty much gone. But we know quite a bit about what goes to make a 'genius' - and what suppresses/ prevents the recognition and effectiveness of creativity. I thought I'd try to put together some of these ideas. We need more Patagonian Shakespeares!
@D - Not even close - nearly half a globe away...
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it probably will have something to do with the conditions under which genius-level people would appear in a population....
ReplyDelete@A - getting warm...
ReplyDeleteIs it a Christian apologetic book?
ReplyDelete@JP - Nope.
ReplyDeleteI've added a link to the (blank) blog - which has a clue in the subtitle.
ReplyDeleteMy first guess was going to be about intelligence being a product of or related to colder climates.
ReplyDeleteHaving read the subtitle, I think its about genius being relative to the people in one's culture and about plucking low hanging fruit.
This joke has two punchlines. The better one is called "the English Gomez."
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing it's something about how to promote not-quite-genius in a cultural milieu that is hostile to genius proper?
@BC: I fear you may have missed the point of my ZZ comment.
