I used to be skilled at a particular, but admittedly low level, creative response. At academic staff meetings where people were bemoaning the administrative difficulty of x. y, or z, I would pertly pipe out some novel, and to me obvious, solution. I noticed this caused only resentment and in the end left them to their bemoaning. These were people who were, in principle, employed for their creativity.
