What is going-on with global conspiracy theories?

I knew almost nothing about the world of large scope conspiracy theories, certainly no details, until I discovered a couple of years ago that somebody who I had once known quite well was actually the leader of one of the lesser known but still substantial groupings (having very detailed theories about alien Illuminati who control most of the major political and social systems).

(It was only yesterday I came across the idea that these members of the elites are a race of large reptilian shape shifters - apparently, I had unconsciously screened and edited-out this material in the past so it never reached awareness.)

Anyway, this old friend sent me links to his stuff which I sampled, and I had to form an opinion of it to make a response.

My overall view (and this includes the reptilian stuff I have only just heard about) is that these 'global conspiracy' people are mostly intelligent and well-informed individuals (my old friend is both of these), and that among a mass of errors and deliberate frauds, they are responding to a core of what might be termed some genuine 'underlying raw phenomena'.

(This is, in broad terms, the interpretative strategy of Fr Seraphim Rose in his book Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future of 1975 - when he looks at the upsurge in paranormal interest of the late sixties, including UFOs.)

It is striking that some of the conspiracy theorists have for a long time been accurately describing - in specific detail - the grossly depraved sexual culture of the British Establishment since the nineteen sixties; of which most of us have only been aware since Jimmy Savile - but which continues to astonish and appall with its revelations. I would certainly have regarded endemic, pervasive elite paedophilia as the craziest of allegations; until I, like everyone else, was forced to accept the weight of evidence.

In a nutshell, my interpretation is that these global conspiracy theorists are essentially atheists who are describing what they can perceive of the actuality of Spiritual Warfare in the End Times.

The conspiracy theories are about aliens; my guess is that the core of reality is demonic activity at the high levels of global society, and presumably some rare manifestations or detections of actual demons (who are said to be discarnate beings, but who can simulate human bodies).

That is, reptilians = demons (and not aliens).

(Also, some'good aliens' may actually be angelic - in principle, Christians must accept that possibility.)

So that is what I said, and what I think is probably going on - global conspiracy theory is what you get when spiritually acute people notice the situation of spiritual warfare which has played-out on earth and through history; they are people who disbelieve the positive side of Christianity and therefore misinterpret the real activities of Satan and his minions and servants.

The result of this one-sided combination is a horrified and dread-full state of mind, in which the individual conspiracy theorist feels himself overwhelmed by the power and scale of purposive spiritual evil in this world, and sees no realistic hope for escape during mortal life, and no hope of opposite and compensatory supernatural good.

This state of mind can be experienced by engaging with their world for even a few minutes - the nature of the analysis leads strongly towards despair, and therefore indirectly supports the evil agenda (since despair is a sin) - which may perhaps be why propagation and discussion of such ideas is allowed to continue.

Indeed, this is what seems to happen with all secular groups who practise what they term Red Pill thinking - I mean those who develop a world view focused on the harsh-but-denied 'truths' of modern life.

If this perspective is taken seriously, on its own terms, such thinking must lead to horror, misery, dread and despair  - which is the inescapable state of mind of those of the ultra-radical anti-establishment anarchic Left who genuinely believe their own analysis.

  1. I think this brief analysis is spot on. The cultural, spiritual, political, social (add the adjective of your choice) drift downwards is definitely demonically inspired, aided by ‘useful idiots’ in many spheres of life who respond to the influence because of their own personality flaws but who, in most cases, are totally unaware of the source of their inspiration. You’re also right to say that once you understand that this is in the overall context of the reality of God there is no cause for despair since it has not only been foreseen but the ultimate victory of truth and goodness has also been assured to us.

Or it leads to a "seize the pleasures of the moment, live for the day, enjoy the decline because you can't prevent it" hedonism that is the basic life strategy of the atheist (even the ones that don't believe in human-reptile hybrids).

  3. There is a lot of really, really bad stuff happening and the people in power are mostly actively encouraging it. The people who want to be in power are either actively encouraging it or want a slightly different version of the same thing. This is a more pressing reality for people lower on the food chain. It's a difficult intellectual problem for people higher on the food chain who value intellectual integrity.

Oswald Spengler said optimism was cowardice. Rollo May said anxiety was rational. These days if you aren't thinking weird, socially unacceptable and possibly illegal thoughts, your brain is not working.

  4. @JP - Live for the day is a self-justification equally applicable/ inappropriate to any time or place. Anyone who truly acted-on that philosophy would need to be muzzled and caged.

@dl - This issue of attitudes is one where the religious framework is particularly vital. I don't know whether there is more reason to be optimistic or cowardly now than in the 1914-188 or 1939-45 wars? I think what is special and new nowadays is that - as you say - those in power are 'actively encouraging' the evil trends *because* they are evil, and not merely for personal gain.

  5. as someone who has explored conspiracy theories in some detail, one interpretation is that these reptilians were ancient aliens (not all ancient aliens were reptilians, there are other races with other motives and agendas) that landed on earth a long time ago, and have been referred to in religious texts as demons/jinn. of course, if one accepts the existence of aliens, then one quickly accepts the possibility that the battle of good/evil and existence of demons also appears in other places in the universe. so these reptilians may be construed as demons themselves, or are themselves demonically influenced. conspiracy theorists with more positive mindsets may also believe in the presence of good/benevolent aliens/ETs.

one of the most prominent conspiracy theorists is david icke who is definitely *not an atheist, but someone who would probably describe himself as 'spiritual but not religious'.

  6. It makes sense if you think of the Illuminati as transnational progressive elites and reptilian as psychopathic characteristics.

  7. International conspiracy theories have some merit, especially with regards to things like 'Eurabia' (Fjordman compiled an airtight account of it), the actions of George Soros and others, but the NWO is 90% direction and unconnected ideological interest. Explicitly, no grand conspiracy exists, but it doesn't need to. The entropic result is the same, deliberately engineered or not.

  8. @lego - David Icke is apparently anti-Christian - or maybe only anti mainstream churches, but doesn't make that clear. As such, I am not clear on the basis of his morality.

In his talks he seems to assume a shared, common sense morality - but we don't have that any more, indeed that is the unique feature about our era: the official morality implicit in politics, public administration, law, education, mass media etc is (I many respects) an inversion of the traditional, common sense, spontaneous human morality - and is indeed dedicated to subverting and destroying that morality.

@Mark - Do you blog under your real name, or is it a pseudonym?

@360 - I don't publish links unless I can first check them out (to make sure they don't propagate something I don't want to propagate), and I'm afraid I don't have the time to check the one you sent.

  9. It's just as well.

You probably don't have the time-- the video is an hour long! I can summarize: A young man stands on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square and cheerfully delivers a muddled, free-associative lecture on a vast conspiracy whose purpose, if I recall correctly, he never quite gets around to specifying.

Frankly, most of the risibility, and therefore all of the entertainment value, was lost for me when I found out that he didn't believe what he was saying. As I click through it impatiently now, I see that, like much of what is called "performance art", it would not pass muster as a vaudeville, music hall, or television comedy routine.

Anyone who is still curious may look up "Bill_A" (Bill Aitchison), the 19 July 2009 7:00pm participant in Anthony Gormley's One & Other art project.
