Why - ultimately - are All major modern leaders corrupt, incompetent and/or agents of evil?

Ladies and Gentlemen, your choice of candidates this year is...

Why - ultimately - are All major modern leaders corrupt, incompetent and/or agents of evil? My answer, from an Albionic perspective - is here.

Note: Sauron - or more exactly Morgoth - represents the hidden hand, pulling the strings from behind the scenes - and never appearing as any kind of 'candidate'.

  1. Boy, am I out of it when it comes to fantasy films of the past eighteen years. I couldn't recognize any of these, though I narrowed down the fifth image as being from Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings (Saruman, an image search reveals).

I haven't seen a an episode of the BBC Wales Doctor Who in many years, but the fourth image looks like a latter day rendering of an Ogron. I'll do an image search... Oh, it's Uglúk. I've only read The Fellowship of the Ring (in 2009! I've got to get on the ball), so I haven't encountered him yet. I am putting off seeing the movies until I read all three books and form my own mental pictures from Tolkien's descriptions.

  2. @ap - They are all baddies from the LotR movies - you might treat it as a sort-of quiz to identify them. Each stands for a particular species of stereotypical modern leader. e.g. The first is the hobbit Ted Sandyman, who becomes a Quisling stooge of Saruman when he takes-over The Shire. Sandyman represents the over-promoted mediocre middle manager, motivated by spite and fuelled by resentment; fawningly-servile to bosses and cruel to underlings. Someone like the current Archbishop of Canterbury.
