The accelerating national and global success of the ("Sorathic") Agents of Chaos is being interpreted as progress for the sociopolitical agenda of the (church-rooted) Religious Right - (unfortunately) much as I predicted some six years ago.
They interpret the success of the AoC at weakening social institutions (which are all Left converged) as a resurgence of the Right, and their church.
On the face of it, this is bizzare! Especially in a world of ever more and escalating wars ( and the inevitable consequences)! And continuing mass migration (ATIC).
But there is an internal coherence if:
1. People interpret destruction of enemies as progress.
2. People assume their own church is fundamentally immune to destruction.
This means that despite the subversion/ corruption/ apostasy/ and feeble faith of their actual church - such people regard it as Inevitable that their church Will benefit from the ongoing situation of collapsing functionality.
