The problem of death is the problem of "entropy" - of the innate destructive tendency of divine creation (i.e. of all created entities).
Christianity was a New Way* of dealing with this intractable problem of death - by individuals voluntarily and positively choosing resurrection to eternal life in Heaven.
As a bonus, Christianity was also a new way of dealing with evil!
*The Old Ways involved destruction or the purposive, dynamic, living, conscious, free individual self; and therefore all possibility of relationship and personal creativity. For examples by dissolution of the personal into the abstract divine; by loss of all awareness of the problem; by the promise of an eternity of changeless crystalline stasis (= de facto nothingness = de facto reversion to pre-creation) - or somesuchlike.
