A few greedy and psychopathically cruel people are making truly vast amounts of money from the birdemic and its peck, the Fire Nation war, Climate stuff, and the rest of it.
But that is Not why these are happening.
There are a lot of very foolish and short-sighted people in positions of multi-national national, institutional and corporate leadership.
But blind stupidity is Not the originating cause of escalating global chaos.
There is a much bigger picture, bigger than the whole world and Men's lives - a spiritual war on a cosmic scale, which is about the fate of eternal souls.
The cosmic spiritual war is the primary cause of all these events and the impending catastrophic collapse.
The Big Bad things are being done on-purpose and according to a plan.
The ultimate cause of it all, is evil intent.
And unless that cause is understood explicitly; and unless we commit our-selves to the side of Good - everything that people do, whatever the intention may be, will only continue to make matters worse.

You, sir, have hit the nail on the head.
In the late 70s, I was walking through my church & God told me to study Job until I understood it. I chuckled, seeing that God has a sense of humor ("til you understand it"). So, work in progress.
One thing I gradually realized is that both the establishment and the churches want us to be good citizens, & that men especially should aspire to be good plow horses. God didn't send us a plow horse; He sent a hero. We all want to be heroes when we're kids, but it gets beaten out of us. "You could get hurt!!"
So one of the insights I've seen is that He wants heroes w/ Him in Heaven, sort of like Valhalla. We know why the Devil wants to bury us w/ evil. Now why does God allow it? Because we tend to what one called, "the beautiful, wrinkle-free life", but that's not how you forge heroes.
I believe you are correct. When viewed like this, everything is so easy to understand. What I find amazing is most people simply cannot accept this premise as the underlying cause of our current ills Even those whom I believe are fairly spiritually enlightened struggle to understand why those people act so badly cannot make the leap to see those bad actors are in thrall to evil. It is like admitting this is to admit there really is a spiritual war going on and that is just a bit too much to admit. I admit that I, too, have fallen into this trap from time-to-time, but realizing evil is trying to destroy the world and goodness is the key to seeing the world as it cruelty is. It is the key to understanding and the key to navigating the world. It is easy to see who your friends are and realizing that those who cannot pass the various litmus tests remain your enemy. It kinda reminds me of the Matrix:
“The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”
So...from a perspective of "cosmic spiritual war", what do you think God's side of the fight 'looks like'?
I mean, we see that the side of Evil is implementing global chaos and catastrophic collapse - is God's side only interested in people's individual commitment to the "side of Good"?
Or are there cosmic/spiritual 'forces of Good' fighting battles against the Evil powers?
If the Evil side moves toward escalating to total nuclear war - would God send 'Powers' or Jesus to put a stop to that, or is complete destruction of all life on Earth 'on the table'?
I'm interested to know your view on this, because you've said you don't subscribe to any sort of 'Book of Revelation' scenario - which, I somewhat agree with - but, I do think there's more at stake 'creation-wise' than just 'however many souls end up choosing for Heaven' before (potentially) nuclear winter sets in and the question of "side" becomes moot.

I think such questions need to be asked in a framework that realizes this is an entropic world, a temporary world of temporary manifestations, where the tendency is for material things to fall apart.
Heaven is where incarnated beings may be eternal, but not earth.
'Life on Earth' is also a wrong understanding - everything that is is a being (or part of a being) - including what modern Man regards as the 'mineral' world.
God's view of the spiritual war is probably best understood from the perspective of a parent observing deadly fights between His children, all of whom He loves.
Let us not forget the flood. God gave mankind free will. This means he is free to choose good or evil. What gives me comfort is that in the end, God wins. There is no other logical choice. So, we either choose God and eternal life, or evil and hell. Easy peasy.
@Jeffrey- From what I see of people, the fact that it seems illogical to choose hell would not prevent plenty of people from doing it.
I agree God wins, I think because of Heaven. Once Jesus had made Heaven a thing that Men could choose (and I presume that other beings can choose Heaven too), then that part of creation was eternally free from all evil ('Life Everlasting').
